Digital checking system for Disabled parking spots

CityRockets from Kilkis, a small town in northern Greece, we participating in the FLLGreece competition for the third year in a rowq. The problems that our team tries to solve is the control of illegal parking at disabled parking spots, for the cars that don't have a special allowance. The construction of an advanced digital sign which will inform about delinquency with 3 different ways and stages. The digital recognition of disabled cars will help in many ways and will have an impact on society as a whole.. An important part at our solution is the awareness of all citizens on this problem.

Project selection

CityRockets from Kilkis, a small town in northern Greece, we participating in the FLLGreece competition for the third year in a row. Our team consists of 7 member, 6 boys and 1 girl. We are all between 13 and 15 years old. We love robotics and special the FLL contest therefore we participate every year. First of all we prepare for every part of the competition. Our first meeting happen to choose the problem which we’re going to solve.
“PBS” PizzaBrainStorming: It’s a “tradition” for our team that our first meeting, to be at a local pizzeria. The parking in our country is a mayor problem, there is not enought parkings spots and the problem is even more serious for the disabled parkings spots. The way that the traffic police have to control these parkings spots is insufficient, that makes the movement of the disabled people difficult. Our innovation ensures that the problem is resolved in digital way. An important part at our solution is the awareness of all citizens on this problem.

Research

We focused our research on the following areas.
In Greece the only way to control theese areas is by calling to the nearest traffic police station to inform the illigal use of the parking spot and wait until the response.
We have searched on the internet if there is any solution in other country, but we didn't find anything relevant, there are only traditional methods.
The digital recognition of disabled cars will help in many ways and will have an impact on society as a whole.
Our innovation is 100% complete solution. by our research this innovation will increase by 67% (stats made in two cities Kilkis (26,500 citizens) and Thessaloniki (1,106,000 citizens) of the availability in these spots

Conclusions from our research.

The parking in our country is a mayor problem, there is not enought parkings spots and the problem is even more serious for the disabled parkings spots.
The way that the traffic police have to control these parkings spots is insufficient, that makes the movement of the disabled people difficult.
Our innovation ensures that the problem is resolved in digital way. The construction of an advanced digital sign which will inform about delinquency with 3 different ways and stages:
a) Sign with LED light at the edge of the perimeter
b) Sound alarm
c) Message and photos to digital communication

I am Stergios (Savvas’ twin brother), I am 13 years old and I am studding 1st Class of Secondary School in Kilkis.

In my spare time I play basketball at APS KOUPA Kilkis (8 years) I study at the Polianio Music School (4 years symphonic percussion and 5 years cello) and I learn-play-have fun, with robotics for three years with Coach Goran.

The lessons that I prefer at school are Math’s, Physics, Informatics .

My name is Odysseus Malamatenios Violitzis and I am 13 years old . I live in kilkis with my parents and my two brothers. I attend the second grade of the junior high school. I enjoy studying English and training with my robotic team. I also play handball and the electric guitar . Also I am keen on cooking . I am a pleasant character with a great sence of humour and I try to keep a positive way of thinking and acting.
